Craig Marlowe

Flutist Craig Marlowe is a native of Loudoun County, Virginia, and currently holds the Principal Flute position in the Washington Sinfonietta, and Washington Philharmonic Orchestras, Assistant Principal Flute in the Washington Symphony, and Piccolo in the Loudoun Symphony Orchestra. Mr. Marlowe is also a regular performer in the Ars Nova Chamber Orchestra of Washington, the Washington Pro Musica Chamber Orchestra and has also performed in the Landon Symphonette. An avid chamber musician, Mr. Marlowe performs regularly with Harpist Cheryl Roeske, Musical Offering Chamber Ensemble, Ensemble Vivacé, and is a founding member of the Loudoun Quartet. He has performed with the Richmond Symphony, Richmond Philharmonic, Roanoke Symphony, and made solo performances with numerous orchestras. He is also currently a member of the National Flute Association and the Flute Society of Washington.

Mr. Marlowe has studied flute with Francile Bilyeu at Virginia Commonwealth University, Judith Mendenhall at Mannes College of Music, Vanita Hall-Jones at Catholic University of America, and Yamaha Artist, Susan Hoeppner. Mr. Marlowe was awarded First Place in the Virginia Music Teachers Young Artist Competition 1986 and 1987, Virginia Music Teachers Concerto Competition 1987, and Music Teachers National Association Young Artist Competition 1987. In addition to Mr. Marlowes performance attributes, he also maintains a select private studio, serves on the Board of Directors Executive Committee for the Washington Philharmonic Orchestra, the Loudoun Symphony Artistic Committee as well as designs and maintains the Loudoun Quartet and Loudoun Symphony websites.
